Forsøgsdyrenes Værn (Denmark)

Based in Denmark, Forsøgsdyrenes Værn's aims are to influence legislation, to promote and support non-animal alternative methods, to promote the use of more humane methods in research and in the handling of animals in laboratories, to draw public and political attention to the poor conditions experienced by animals in laboratories, to spread information on and combat illegal use and trade in such animals, and to cooperate internationally in the introduction or improvement of legislation concerning animals used in research.

Occasionally, Forsøgsdyrenes Værn takes up animal welfare issues of a more general nature - examples of campaigns include the dog trade and rodeo. Due to Forsøgsdyrenes Værn's efforts, money earmarked for the development and promotion of alternative methods was secured from the Danish National Budget.

Forsøgsdyrenes Værn was established in 1963 and has about 18,000 members.
